Praise is to God with all his praises, for all his blessings. . . Praise is to God, the owner of the property, the operator of the orbit, the bender of the wind, the glory of the morning, the religion of the beliefs, lord of the worlds; praise is to God for his dream after his knowledge and thank God for forgiveness after his power, and praise be to God for his long patience in his wrath and he is capable to do what he wills

And we bear witness that there is no god but God alone, without partner, and that Muhammad is his servant and messenger, he sent him with guidance and the religion of truth, that he might proclaim it over all religion, even if the polytheists hated it.

Resistance of Musa, peace upon him, and his followers against Pharaoh

After Musa Kalim’s victory over the magicians, many tribes of Israelis and others believed in him, and Musa gained a plenty of followers, and from then on, there was always a conflict between the Israeli tribes (followers of Musa) and the Copts (followers of Pharaoh).

The Qur’an says that during this period of conflict between Musa and Pharaoh, the leaders of the people blamed Pharaoh for not being strict with Musa and his followers. So Pharaoh decided to massacre the men of Israel at their instigation:

The elite of Pharaoh’s people said, ‘Will you leave Moses and his people to cause corruption in the land, and to abandon you and your gods?’ He said, ‘We will kill their sons and spare their women, and indeed we are dominant over them.’ (Araf: 127)

The Israeli tribes complained to Musa about the oppression that had happened to them, and he ordered them to be patient and persevere in the face of difficulties, and to seek God’s help to endure them:

Moses said to his people, ‘Turn to Allah for help and be patient. The earth indeed belongs to Allah, and He gives its inheritance to whomever He wishes of His servants, and the outcome will be in favour of the Godwary.’ (Musa: 128)

The holy Qur’an reports that some of the Israelis protested to Musa that what was the benefit of your mission to us? Before you came, Pharaoh was committing the same crimes against us, and he is still committing them. Musa tried to respond to their misunderstanding, and the fact that they did not understand what a great movement Musa had launched, and what a glorious future was awaiting them, and what a great civilization they were supposed to be the founders of:

They said, ‘We were tormented before you came to us and [also] after you came to us.’ He said, ‘Maybe your Lord will destroy your enemy and make you successors in the land, and then He will see how you act.’ (Araf: 129)

Pharaoh, who using all his power to prevent the activities of Musa and his supporters, failed to defeat them and was unable to resist and stand against Musa, planned with his people to kill Musa, so that they would get freed from his divine call and Musa could not destroy their system of oppression:

And Pharaoh said, ‘Let me slay Moses, and let him invoke his Lord. Indeed I fear that he will change your religion, or bring forth corruption in our land.’ (Ghafer: 26)

The timely words of the faithful of Pharaoh, and his protest against Pharaoh

While the pharaoh and his loyal people were discussing the plan to kill Musa, a man from the pharaoh who believed in Musa but hid his faith defended Musa well and effectively:

Said a man of faith from Pharaoh’s clan, who concealed his faith, ‘Will you kill a man for saying, ‘‘My Lord is Allah,’’ while he has already brought you manifest proofs from your Lord? Should he be lying, his falsehood will be to his own detriment; but if he is truthful, there shall visit you some of what he promises you. Indeed Allah does not guide someone who is a transgressor and liar. O my people! Today sovereignty belongs to you, and you are dominant in the land. But who will save us from Allah’s punishment should it overtake us?’ (Ghafer: 28-29)

In response to this believer, Pharaoh considered himself a benefactor of the people, and said that his proposal regarding the killing of Musa was a wise idea:

Pharaoh said, ‘I just point out to you what I see [to be advisable for you], and I guide you only to the way of rectitude.’ (Ghafer: 29)

This speech of Pharaoh is the usual method of the enemies of the nations and the followers of Satan, who always consider them to be well-wishers of people, and want to show that their opinion is wise. Just as Iblis, when deceiving Adam and Eve; he swore to them that out of benevolence, he told them to eat from that forbidden tree: Then Satan tempted them, to expose to them what was hidden from them of their nakedness, and he said, ‘Your Lord has only forbidden you from this tree lest you should become angels, or lest you become immortal.’ And he swore to them, ‘I am indeed your well-wisher.’ (Araf: 20-21)

The believer of Pharaoh stood by his words. He remembered the stories of the tribes of the former prophets, who destroyed their people by opposing and rebelling against the divine calling of the prophets:

He who had faith said, ‘O my people! Indeed I fear for you [a day] like the day of the [heathen] factions; like the case of the people of Noah, of Ad and Thamud, and those who came after them, and Allah does not desire any wrong for [His] servants. O my people! I fear for you a day of mutual distress calls, a day when you will turn back [to flee], not having anyone to protect you from Allah, and whomever Allah leads astray has no guide. Certainly Joseph brought you manifest proofs earlier, but you continued to remain in doubt concerning what he had brought you. When he died, you said, ‘‘Allah will never send any apostle after him.’’ That is how Allah leads astray those who are unrestrained and skeptical. (Ghafer: 30-34)
